A MODERN SPECIALIST DEALER

01 / MISSION

WHY WE
EXIST

The laser industry has always been a bit of a paradox. For a business literally built around light, it has often been surprisingly opaque.

Because this is such a specific niche, there has never been a huge base of public knowledge for people to learn from. The most successful laser operators have usually either sourced their own equipment, learned how to maintain it, or understood the mechanics of what was being sold to them.

That has helped create a hugely bloated market. At the low end, a lot of equipment is dangerous, unreliable, or poorly built. At the high end, buyers can still end up paying a premium for units with questionable sourcing, poor finishing, glue marks, weak diodes, and very little transparency.

A lot of new operators will never open their kit or understand what powers it — and too many companies are happy to take advantage of that. That is what we are trying to solve.

Every Paradox laser has a full trace from metal, to machining, to diode. These are not random units pulled from a catalogue. They are systems we know, systems we trust, and systems that have been used in the field for years.

We will be honest: for the best part of a decade, we kept these units close. As a company, they gave us an edge on the international show market. Their beam quality, stability, and colour became part of our signature look, helping us deliver work across music, fashion, broadcast, technology, and live events.

But the industry has changed. More people than ever want to develop their skills, build shows, and express themselves with lasers. They should be able to buy serious equipment without being forced into guesswork, inflated pricing, or poor advice.

We will all age out of touring eventually, but we will never get tired of seeing new operators experience what is possible with coherent light.

We want more people to understand what is inside the machine, what makes a laser high quality, what makes a system show-ready, and how good equipment fits into the fundamentals of real show design.

That is why Paradox is not just supplying what we believe are some of the best lasers available at this price point. We are also building proper guides, setup documents, safety information, support channels, and a community designed to help every member of the Paradox family understand their equipment and get more from it.

Our founder was born into the laser industry. His mother, Patti de Vaux, was one of its early pioneers, helping create and programme early laser show systems before founding her own laser show company, which became a core part of the 80s and 90s rave scene.

Lasers became a huge part of his formative years: smoke fluid, acid house, tour buses, classic controllers, water-cooled Argon-Xenon systems, beam tables, and the kind of old-school laser knowledge you only pick up by being around the machines and the people who knew how to run them.

From a young age, he was exposed to the real mechanics of large-scale laser shows: how beams behave, how systems are built, what makes a setup reliable, and how lasers sit inside the wider language of a show.

At 17, he left home, created a new alias, and began operating lasers and projection mapping under the name Paradox State.

That first summer became the foundation for a 16-year journey that has taken Paradox across the world — from Red Square in Moscow to Prada's Double Club Miami with Wu-Tang Clan, and through projects across music, fashion, broadcast, technology, nightlife, and large-scale live events.

More recently, the decision was made to tour less and focus on building Paradox into something more lasting for the industry.

The laser world is still a walled garden. Knowledge is guarded, buyers are often left blindly trusting headline stats, and the market is increasingly shaped by brand monopolies rather than quality-led decision-making. Paradox exists to push back against that.

That is where Paradox comes from — not a reseller spreadsheet, but a lifetime around beams, machines, music, venues, and the people who made this industry what it is.
